She is the older of a pair of twin sisters; her family runs "Kinezaki-ya," a branch of a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Yokosuka that has been in business since the Meiji era.

Her hobby involves reading a collection of Edo-period recipes she acquired as a child and reviving the traditional methods for making Japanese sweets. She also tends a small vegetable garden aboard the Harekaze, growing shiso and green beans. Like Mikan and her younger sister Akane, she helps prepare meals for the ship's crew.

Given her background in a confectionery shop, the school asked her to serve on the Mamiya upon enrollment, but she declined the offer alongside Akane.
