Maki Zenin is the older twin sister of Mai Zenin. Maki is a grade 4 sorcerer and a second-year at Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School. She is from the main branch of the Zenin clan, one of the "Prominent Three Families" of the Jujutsu world.

She left the Zenin family in order to prove herself capable of being a Sorcerer after being deemed uncapable, since she lacks Cursed Energy.

Because Mai and Maki are monozygotic twins, their strength is considerably limited to one another. Monozygotic twins are considered as a single individual in the Jujutsu world and are a sign of bad omen.

After the death of her twin sister Mai, Maki has lost all of her cursed energy and gained a Heavenly Restriction. This causes her skills and human capabilities to be on par with Toji Fushiguro's.
