It is later realized that the reason for their death was because of Takashi's jealousy. Early in the game, he finds out that Machiko is pregnant, only to figure out later that it isn't his and that she was having an affair. He then proceeds to try attacking Machiko with one of the darts, but is stopped by Decim. He then passes out and gets sent back into the elevators; there, he is sent to be reincarnated.
