The upcoming From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage anime has officially introduced three new cast members, giving fans another reason to look forward to the series.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Arata Shiraishi, which first debuted on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2018. Following its online success, Kadokawa Shoten began publishing the novels in print under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label in October 2019, featuring illustrations by Uodenim. The series currently has a total of eight published volumes.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Kentarou launched in September 2019 and has also gained a strong following. As of now, nine manga volumes have been released in Japan.

The anime adaptation is being directed by Hisashi Ishii at EMT Squared. Deko Akao is handling the series composition, Hideki Furukawa is in charge of the character designs, and the music is being composed by Takaaki Nakahashi.

Story

The story follows Ephtal, a legendary sage who dies filled with regret after failing to reach the pinnacle of magic. Four centuries later, he is reincarnated with all of his memories and incredible magical abilities still intact.

However, the world he returns to is very different. Magic has significantly declined, and ancient spells that were once common are now regarded as miraculous. Determined to restore the true art of sorcery, Ephtal enrolls in a prestigious magic academy. As he begins to reveal his overwhelming power, long-forgotten legends and hidden secrets start to awaken, setting the stage for an epic fantasy adventure.
